Bahareya is the closest Oasis to Cairo in kilometers, but the most distant oasis in time. Like all the other major oases in the New Valley Governorate (Kharga, Dakhla, and Farafra) Bahareya had many names through the centuries. Called the Northern Oasis, the Little Oasis, Zezes, and the Oasis of El Banasa.

Gebal el Khashab : Mountain of Wood , this mountain contains huge amounts of petrified wood.

Tomb of Pedashtar : The tomb of a high priest living in Bahareya during the Twenty sixth dynasty. The tomb contains four rooms.

Temple of Alexander the Great
: This small two-chambered temple is the only place in Egypt where Alexander the Great effigy and cartouche have been found.

Volcano area
: This prehistoric area contains erupt volcanoes with millions of lava scattered along the plains.

Qasir Muharib
: Fortress of The Fighter is probably the most impressive ruin in Baharia, an extensive Roman/Christian village.

Temple of Bes
: Bes was the ancient Egyptian god of musicians and dancers. This temple is a recent discovery, a mud brick temple of the late period with no inscriptions

White Desert : It is a vast stretch of land in the Western Desert that borders Baharia Oasis to the north and Al-Farafra to the south. , originally made of chalk that has been exposed for years to what geologists call "differential weathering," the erosion of soft particles that results in weird protrusions of hard rock. This explains the very beautiful forms that now fill the White Desert including shapes like domes, minarets, castles, towers and so forth.

Ain Bishuma : Is sometimes called the Roman Springs . The spring flows out of a fissure. It is a hot spring with temperature of 30 degrees c.
Vally of Golden mummies: Recently discovered this site is considered the most important discovery after king Tuts tomb.

Bir Ghaba
: The Well of The Forest, is a hot water well located in a grove of eucalyptus trees.
